Q. How does payment work on Storyhunter?
One of the biggest problems for freelancers in our industry is getting paid on time, so we’ve gone to great lengths to try to solve this problem. Our system guarantees that freelancers get paid within 30 days whenever they are commissioned on the platform. Upon completion, Storyhunter will bill the client the amount owed, plus Storyhunter’s service fee. The freelancer will get paid once Storyhunter gets paid, and often times earlier.
We also offer a custom workflow for advances and expenses, along with early payment options for select freelancers.
Q. How do I pay?
Storyhunter handles payment for you. Upon project completion, you will be charged for the full amount, plus our service fee. Depending on your subscription, you can pay with a credit card or request custom invoicing. Storyhunter typically bills on 30 day net payment terms so that we can keep our guarantee to freelancers of payment within 30 days of project completion. Q. Are Advances Possible?
Yes, we have a custom workflow for advances. To request an advance to a freelancer please submit a support request here. The message should include these details:
- The freelancer’s name
- The project name and link
- The amount of the advance
- The date when the advance should be issued
Storyhunter reserves the right to discretion on advance approvals, and evaluates requests on a case by case basis.
Q. What about Expenses?
Yes, we have a custom expenses workflow in which freelancers upload their itemized expenses and receipts for your approval (read more here). Make sure you work through the approved expenses for a project before you mark it as complete, so the final amount billed is correct. Storyhunter charges a 3% convenience fee on expenses.
Q. Where can I enter my credit card information?
You can enter your credit card information by selecting your profile avatar then Company Profile > Edit > Billing Information . You can enter multiple credit cards - whichever is set as the default card will be charged upon project completion.
Q. When will I be charged?
If you’ve entered a credit card in your Storyhunter account, you’ll be charged when you mark a project complete. If you have arranged to be invoiced, you will receive an invoice for the total amount spent over a 1 week period.
Q. Why am I charged a service fee?
Charging a service fee allows us to maintain and improve our software, offer top-notch customer support and user experience for both freelancers and clients, and ensure trusted payment solutions for freelancers everywhere.
Q. How do we onboard our payments department for billing?
We’ve built a dashboard tailor-made for your budget owners and billing team, so they can access real time reports and analytics on your account. Let your account manager know who your budget owners and billing contacts are so they can get them set up. They also will receive billing related emails, including project receipts and invoices Contact your account manager if you’d like to change your billing contact, or email email@example.com
Q. When does the freelancer get paid?
We guarantee that payment will be issued to the freelancer within 30 days of you marking the project as complete. So keep the freelancers you work with happy by completing the project as soon as you are happy with the deliverables and you’ve both agreed on the total amount to be paid, including expenses.
