Q. Can I sell the same story or another version (print, photos) to another publisher?
In most cases, you can’t sell the same video story to another publisher since that would violate the Standard Freelancer Agreement (Creative Terms), which you agree to every time you begin a project. It states that the publisher buys all copyrights and moral rights in exclusivity. Some publishers may choose to have their own agreements with different requirements, which will be visible in the project view. If you plan to sell a print or photo version of the story, please let your editor know (along with an expected publishing date) before you agree to produce the story. Media is a competitive industry, so if you promise a publisher a scoop, make sure you deliver a scoop. Remember, when dealing with publishers, always be transparent as that will help build a trusting, long-term relationship.
